Default SSL Connection Error

We experienced an issue with MIRTH Connect and Clustering node (Turned Red). Our ADM system wasn't able to send any data to MIRTH.
STEPS taken:
1) I have deployed all channel but Dashboard was coming blank. Did multiple times but channel still not showing.
2) Monitored Clustering log and Restarted MIRTH Connect from Appliance still no luck and at this point Clustering NODE symbol turned RED.
3) Finally Restarted MIRTH Appliance and that did resolve issue.

This is an error message from E1000 MIRTH Appliance, in Clustering Log:

"The Primary node( received an exception syncing to the backup node( SSL connect error; error:140773E8:SSL routine:SSL23_GET_SERVER_HELLO:reason(1000)"

Any one can provide any expertise. Was that because of Network hiccups or else? Not able to figure out the root cause of this.

I don't think I've ever run into that error message before. So restarting the appliance fixed the clustering issue?
