Default app for injecting data to LLP Listener for testing

We're using OSX, but are open to other OS applications for sending data into Mirth for testing. We have set up an LLP listener channel on port 11640 and want it to write to files. I can see that the tcp port is open, but I'd like to know if you have a suggestion for an app that will allow me to simulate sending data to that port as if it was another system.

I tried using telnet localhost 11640, but couldn't figure out what the terminating key sequence was, so the telnet session hangs every time.

Thanks in advance,

Mike

The easiest way to do this is to load Mirth onto another machine and have it set up as a file reader to LLP sender. Set up your test messages as files and have one instance of Mirth spit those out.

You can watch the raw packet data and confirm that Mirth is sending the right things by using a packet sniffer. I prefer Wireshark (formerly Ethereal).

Thanks, I hadn't thought of that. I guess I could actually run the app on the same machine using differnt port numbers. I'll try that. Thanks.

Yes - you can chain channels together - have one read from a file and send to PORT X, have another channel listening on PORT X.

You can also check http://www.elomagic.de/index.php?page=hl7 for HL7 Inspector - it has an LLP Sender. Also http://nule.org has HL7 Comm. I personally use HL7 Comm on my OS X machine.

For extra fun, setup a loop and see how many messages Mirth will pass around :-)
