Question SMTP Error.

Hello,

I am running Mirth 3.8.1 on a VM and trying to setup alerts.

SMTP Host: smtp.gmail.com
SMTP Port: 465
Secure connection: SSL

I get the following error when I click on "Send Test Email"

This is typically a setting problem at google, including allowing "less secure access" at Google and possibly a dedicated app password which depends on whether or not MFA is enabled on your account, see https://support.google.com/accounts/answer/185833.

This can also be corporate controlled if you are using google through work.

I am assuming of course you can at least access the the relay server from your machine.

Less secure apps are getting shut off soon for G Suite users. https://gsuiteupdates.googleblog.com...incorrect.html

However, if someone has G Suite, they should be using smtp-relay.gmail.com instead of smtp.gmail.com.

I have it working with
host: smtp-relay.gmail.com
port: 587
secure connection: STARTTLS

If you need to use smtp.gmail.com you may want to try 587/STARTTLS for that one, too. Also note that this option requires authentication with a gmail or G Suite account.
